Lip augmentation, like all cosmetic procedures, is customized to match the patient’s own unique facial features. The goal is to create beautiful lips that complement and are in balance with the rest of the face. Candidates for lip augmentation are those that have lips that are too thin, have a poorly defined shape, or upper and lower lips that are disproportionate. Ideally, the top lip is about 40% of the total height of the lips and the lower lip is 60%.
The Benefits Of Lip Augmentation
- Gives you fuller, plumper lips
- Increases the definition in your lips
- Smooths out fine lines and wrinkles
Where will the incision be placed for a lip augmentation?
Lip augmentation can be accomplished by dermal filler (Juvederm, Restylane etc.) or a surgical procedure. We see patients of all ages whose breast size hinders daily activities. If you are a candidate for a surgical procedure the typical placement for a lip lift incision is around the natural border of the lips.
How long is the recovery period?
Patients experience no pain and minimal if any discomfort from a lip augmentation procedure. Esthetically speaking you will have sutures and could have minor , temporary bruising and swelling. If you do not want anyone to know you have had a lip augmentation surgery then you may want to consider this when planning time off.
Will there be scarring after the lip augmentation?
Our patients typically heal from a surgical lip augmentation (Lip lift) with no signs of scaring, however all patients are different and should be mindful that wherever an incision is made (with any procedure) you do take the chance of having a visible scar.
How long will the results last?
Surgical results are permanent and dermal fillers are temporary and can last up to one year. Dr. Brennan also has a more permanent filler that you may ask him about.
