I recently saw a patient who had breast implants placed under her chest muscle who had a significant “under the muscle” deformity. By nature a women’s breast tissue is over the muscle not under the muscle and surgeons who advise patients to have implants under the muscle should be completely honest and inform the patient that there are a variety of deformities that can occur with that procedure. If an implant is placed above the muscle and behind the breast tissue the patient completely eliminates the possibility of having a multitude of deformities and an unnatural appearance.
